Analytics

Analytics brings figures from the Thoshika apps a company uses into one catalogue of defined metrics: revenue, cash runway, DSO, headcount, attrition, pipeline, utilisation and more. Leaders get ready-made dashboards for their role, analysts build their own and explore data, and alerts flag thresholds and unusual movements. Planning adds driver-based budgets, scenarios, rolling forecasts and a cash forecast. Each person sees only the data their roles in the source apps allow.

Who uses it

  • Analytics viewers open shared dashboards, explore data and set up their own alerts.
  • Analytics admins manage settings, data access, custom metrics, targets, packs, schedules and embed links.
  • Planners build plan versions and scenarios, reforecast and prepare the cash forecast.
  • Finance admins approve plans and see finance figures across the company.

Before you start

  • Switch Analytics on for your company. See the Quick start.
  • Metrics appear for the apps that are on. Finance metrics need Books, workforce metrics need People, sales metrics need CRM, and so on.
  • Make sure people's roles and scopes in the source apps are right; Analytics uses them to decide what each person sees.
  • For planning, your chart of accounts and cost centres should be set up in Books.

Set up

  1. Check data sync. In settings, confirm that each app's data has synced. Changes arrive within seconds, with a nightly refresh.
  2. Review data access. Each area of data, such as finance, payroll, workforce or sales, has default roles that can see it. Widen access only where needed.
  3. Install role packs. Packs for the CEO, CFO, CHRO, sales head, delivery head and plant head are shared with the matching roles. Copy one to customise it.
  4. Set targets. Add targets for key metrics by month, quarter or year so tiles show variance.
  5. Add custom metrics. Define formulas over catalogue metrics, such as revenue per head, if you need them.
  6. Grant roles. Give the viewer, admin and planner roles to the right people.

Key workflows

Build a dashboard

  1. Create a dashboard and add tiles: KPI, line, bar, pie, table, pivot, gauge or funnel.
  2. Pick a metric, how to group it and the period, and add filters.
  3. Arrange and resize tiles, and set dashboard filters for period, branch, legal entity, team or project.
  4. Share it with roles or people, or keep it private.

Click a bar or point to drill down a level, or open the underlying records in the source app.

Explore or ask a question

  • In the explorer, choose a metric, group by and filters, and compare with the previous period. Export to CSV or Excel.
  • Or type a question such as revenue by month this financial year. The app shows how it understood the question and lists any words it did not recognise.

Set an alert and a schedule

  1. Create a threshold alert, such as cash runway below six months, or an anomaly alert that compares the latest period with recent history.
  2. Choose recipients; alerts arrive in the app, by email and optionally in a Sangam channel.
  3. To send a dashboard regularly, schedule it daily, weekly or monthly as PDF or Excel. Each recipient gets their own figures.

Plan the year

  1. Create a budget version for the financial year.
  2. Enter revenue drivers, headcount plans pulled from People, and opex by cost centre.
  3. Compare the bottom-up total with the top-down target and try scenarios side by side.
  4. Submit for approval by finance and the CEO. The approved budget is pushed into Books budgets.
  5. During the year, compare plan with actuals and reforecast the remaining months.

Check the cash forecast

The cash forecast looks 13 weeks and 6 months ahead. It combines open invoices adjusted for each customer's usual delay, open bills, payroll and statutory deposit dates, and planned spending, and shows the closing balance, lowest point and runway.

India specifics

Periods follow the April to March financial year with Indian quarters, figures show in lakhs and crores, and revenue and expenses follow Schedule III grouping. The cash forecast uses statutory deposit dates for PF, ESI, TDS on salary and professional tax.

Works with other apps

  • Books: ledger actuals, receivables and payables; approved budgets are pushed back.
  • People: headcount, attrition, payroll cost and headcount plans.
  • CRM: pipeline, win rate and won revenue.
  • Projects: billable hours, utilisation and project margin.
  • Support, Procurement, Manufacturing and Company Compliance: service, spend, production and compliance metrics.
  • Sangam: alerts posted to a channel.
