Sangam
Sangam is Thoshika's chat and meetings app. Teams talk in channels, direct messages and threads, start calls from any conversation and run scheduled meetings and webinars. Because it shares the Thoshika sign-in, channels can follow your teams and projects, and approval tasks from other apps arrive as cards you can act on. Sangam runs in the browser, in the mobile app and as a desktop app for Windows, macOS and Linux.
Who uses it
- Every member of the company chats, calls and joins meetings. Members are added automatically.
- Sangam admins manage settings, retention, legal holds, exports, guests and the audit log.
- Meeting hosts schedule meetings and webinars, admit people and moderate sessions.
- Guests are outside people, such as clients or partners, who see only the channels or meetings they were invited to.
Before you start
- Switch Sangam on for your company. See the Quick start.
- Decide who may create channels and whether guests are allowed.
- Agree a retention policy for messages and meeting files with whoever owns records in your company.
- For calls between different networks, your administrator needs the TURN relay that Thoshika provides to be reachable from your network.
Set up
- Review company settings. Set who can create channels, whether people may delete their own messages, the edit window and whether guests are allowed.
- Set retention. Choose how long channel messages and direct messages are kept, and the default retention for meeting recordings and transcripts.
- Check automatic channels. Everyone joins the general and announcements channels. If People is on, team channels are created from your org units; Projects, CRM and Support can add project, deal and escalation channels.
- Set notification preferences. Each person chooses whether app notifications are sent to Sangam and sets a do-not-disturb schedule.
- Install the apps. People can use the browser, the mobile app or the desktop app.
Key workflows
Chat in channels and threads
- Open a channel or start a direct message or group DM of up to eight people.
- Reply in a thread to keep side discussions together. Use mentions to notify someone.
- Pin important messages, add bookmarks to the channel header, and save messages with a reminder.
- Use search with filters such as channel, person, date or files.
Approve from chat
- When an approval task is assigned to you, the Approvals bot sends a card with the request summary.
- Choose Approve, or Reject with a reason. The same rules apply as in the inbox, and the card updates for everyone once the task is decided.
- Type /approve to list everything waiting for you.
Schedule and run a meeting
- Schedule a meeting, or a recurring series, from Sangam or from a channel. Invitees get a calendar invite.
- Set a lobby, a passcode and whether people may unmute themselves.
- In the meeting, use breakout rooms, polls, questions and answers, the whiteboard and shared notes. Co-hosts can help moderate.
- Turn on live captions in English or Hindi if needed.
- When the meeting ends, the transcript, notes and attendance report are posted in the conversation and filed in Documents.
Run a webinar
- Create a webinar, add panelists and add or import registrants.
- Start a practice session; attendees wait until you go live.
- Attendees join view-only. Promote someone who raises a hand, and answer questions in the Q and A panel.
- Download the attendance and engagement report afterwards.
Manage compliance
- Sangam admins place legal holds on people or channels, export conversations for a date range and review the audit log.
- When a person asks for their data to be erased, an admin can remove their messages and files, except where a legal hold applies.
India specifics
Do-not-disturb schedules and retention run in Indian Standard Time, and search handles Hindi, English and mixed text. For the DPDP Act, Sangam supports erasure on request, retention limits and a consent notice for guests. Call media goes peer to peer or through Thoshika's own relay and media servers rather than a third party.
